Standing first and reserve female champion at Heathfield Show at the weekend was Boars Head Grace 5th, a February 2009-born heifer by our stock bull Seaview Prince Charming out of the Sway Harvest daughter Boars Head Grace. We also took a third prize with Boars Head Nelly, another Prince Charming daughter out of Oakhill Nelly 20th, a fourth with Boars Head Miranda 2nd, yet another Prince Charming daughter this time out of Swallowhill Miranda and a fifth with Boars Head Heidi, a Beeches Nashville daughter out of Oakhill Heidi 2nd. The first ever South East of  England Club Calf Show, which was held at David Sapsed’s farm in Hertfordshire,  was a great success this year and a great opportunity to see some of the future  genetics that will be parading the southern show circuit next year. We took two  heifer calves as part of the Boars Head team. Our January born Boars Head  Miranda 2nd stood second in her class. She is by our senior stock  bull Seaview Prince Charming out of the Balmanno Hitman daughter Swallowhill  Miranda. Standing third in the same class was Boars Head Heidi, who is a  daughter of this year’s show cow Oakhill Heidi 2nd by Beeches  Nashville. Both heifers will likely make an appearance on next year’s show  circuit.

Having had a tremendous show season with our yearling bull Boars Head Argonaut, we were delighted to win an incredibly strong intermediate class at Stirling this month and then go on to sell him for 7200gns. Argonaut is by our senior stock bull Seaview Prince Charming out of one of the best cows in the herd Wistow Grace 40th, who is a daughter of Curlie Jasper. Buyer was Aucheneck Estates, Kilearn, By Glasgow – we wish them all the best with him. Young bulls are still available at home by Seaview Prince Charming, so please contact us with your enquiries.

Boars Head Miranda, a January  2009-born daughter of our senior stock bull Seaview Prince Charming out of the  Balmano Hitman daughter Swallowhill Miranda, took the female championship at the  official Society sale at Bristol Sales centre this month before selling for  2350gns. With a milk figure of +5 and a self replacing index of +25, she sold to  Messrs Gammow, Cornwall, who bought a heifer at Bristol back in April last year. We  would like to wish him every success with Miranda.

The heavens may have opened at Bucks County Show, but that didn’t stop us from having a good time with the cattle. Our junior bull Boars Head Argonaut, by Seaview Prince Charming, carried on his strong form and won his class, while our show cow, Oakhill Heidi 2nd, stood second in her class.

Having stood second in a tough junior bull class at the recent Edenbridge and Oxted show, our yearling bull Boars Head Argonaut also stood second in the Super Bull competition under judge and British Blue breeder Boomer Birch, before going on to be tapped out reserve Super bull champion. In the breed classes, we also took a third in a strong cow class with Oakhill Heidi 2nd.
